Asus Zenfone Selfie unveiled: specs and features

Asus had a lot to offer in its recently concluded Computex presentation. The company showed off its brand new offerings, including the Asus ZenFone Selfie. If the Asus ZenFone 2 is to go by, it is safe to say that this new handset will be another dynamo for the company.

Needless to say, the hot new device has a powerful camera combination for its main attraction. The Asus ZenFone Selfie has a 13-megapixel camera on both the front and back, similar to that of the HTC Desire EYE, which is also acclaimed for its imaging power. This allows for greater quality selfies and pristine video recording. Add to that the new Beautification photo-editing software native to the selfie-centric device, which, as the name suggests, will give snaps and selfies a makeover.

The Asus ZenFone Selfie comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display that renders 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. This should look good with its pixel density of 401 ppi. The screen is made better with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 armor complete with anti-fingerprint coating promising to protect the screen.

Powering up the smartphone is a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. This is paired with either a 2 GB or 3 GB RAM, depending on the version (the device has two versions) and has 16 GB and 32 GB built in storage. The newly unveiled device looks a lot like the Asus ZenFone 2 and is 10.8 mm thick, weighs 170 g, and draws its power from a 3000 mAh Li-Polymer battery. It also has two SIM slots with connectivity support for Wi-Fi, 4G and LTE as well as Bluetooth. It comes in white, pink, and aqua blue. Other color options include black, gold, grey, and red metallic.

There is still no word on the pricing or which countries it will be made available, but Asus is expected to make an announcement soon.
