One of the most demanding setups tech-savvy fans can require of a mobile workhorse is for it to be able to handle heavy-duty gaming. Asus's Republic of Gaming laptops certainly fit the bill, and with the newest announcement, mobile gaming had been elevated to a whole new level..

Asus has just announced its newest RoG offering, the GX700. Under the hood, the GX700 is just like any other laptop in the lineup. The specs sheet reads power and performance. The GX700 is run by an Intel Core i7 chipset with the new Skylake processor architecture, and an upgradable base model 8 GB of GDDR5 memory.

In addition, since some heavy-performance games require powerful and crisp graphics, the new Asus workhorse features an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 GPU. The GPU in itself is powerful, since the lineup features overclocking between 2.7 GHz to 3.6 GHz.

The GX700 is so powerful that it also features a first in laptop design. Although the mobile workhorse already has blower fans installed inside, Asus takes it to the next level in mobile performance by including a cooling dock. The cooling dock itself is an innovation, since it is a giant water-cooling system that has actual pipes inside it. The dock works by running liquid coolants to help cool components down when using the GX700 for heavy-duty performance.

Other features of the GX700 include custom options. Some features like the memory can be upgraded for up to 64 GB of RAM. Also, storage options can be upgraded to up to 1 TB through a solid state drive. Meanwhile, there is also USB 3.0, HDMI, and DisplayPort support. The display itself is above-average, since it offers Full HD on its 17.3-inch screen. In addition, there is also an option for a 4K resolution model.

Scheduled to be launched later this year, Asus still has to come out with pricing for the model. Fans may expect the new RoG GX700 to have a minimum of at least $1,500 upwards.
