In the Apple's keynote event yesterday, CEO Tim Cook introduced a new lineup of Apple devices people expected to see: iPad Mini, iPad Air, Retina iMac, Apple Pay, iOS 8.1 update and the OS X Yosemite. In the same event, Apple gave everyone another look at the Apple Watch. However, with its release not until next year, Apple scheduled a Watchkit SDK (software developer kit for developing and testing apps) to be released next month.
The release of the SDK as early as November is to have the future product loaded with enough apps in order for the device to be ready for a formal rollout sometime in 2015. Cook said in the Apple event that it only has select partners like BMW, American Express and Starwood Hotels to work with regarding the Apple Watch so far, but Apple is open to third-party apps developers to try their apps out in the SDK. So really, the list is bound to grow.
"We've had a great reception from the tech industry," Cook said in the event, "but we've also had a great reception from people who know a lot about fashion and style, and people who know a lot about watches."
Apple has announced revelations about the Apple Watch. Other than the options of users to buy the wearable in two sizes, 38 mm and 42 mm, the timepiece will come in three editions: sport, standard, and a luxury edition. Users can send and receive text messages with the Apple Watch as well as take calls and monitor health. Features are not limited to that, of course, now that the SDK will soon be put up.
"We invented intimate ways to connect and communicate directly from your wrist," Cook said as he talked about the Apple Watch in the same event where its flagship phones, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, were released in September.
The Apple Watch will reportedly have a starting price of $349.
