iPhone 6S, 6S Plus and iPhone 6C: Apple to bring out three new iPhones this year?

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Apple

It looks like Apple is upping its game even more as it is said to be preparing to release three new iPhones this year. New reports are claiming that the Cupertino-based tech giant is producing an S and even a C version of its mega successful flagship duo — the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.

The rumors ignited by a report from Digitimes, however, are focusing on the latter and, if true, also delve into how the company came to a decision to manufacture a follow-up to the colorful yet not-so sweeping iPhone 5C.

The low-end iPhone 6C is said to come with a 4-inch display, which will make it relatively smaller than the standard handsets it was drawn out from. GSM Arena finds this "odd" as it measures the same as its would-be predecessor.

However, this may prove beneficial to Apple and its patrons who think that the flagships are too cumbersome and for those who simply prefer to use iPhones with smaller screens.

Diving deep down, the iPhone 6C is also said to pack the current generation A8 system-on-chip silicon. This is the same processor used in the current iPhones. However, the 6S models are said to harness their power from a yet-to-be revealed A9 processor.

As for the rest of the specs, the iPhone 6C along with the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus will adapt most of what the iPhone 6 array has. That includes NFC and Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

The purported devices will also be caked with Gorilla Glass-armored low temperature polysilicon panels. Japan Display and LG will reportedly be providing those bits to the 6S models while Sharp will take care of the 6C version.

There is no word about the RAM for the alleged C model although rumors claim that the new S devices would get 1 GB RAM.

Lastly, manufacturer Wistron is said to be handling the production of the iPhone 6C units while Foxconn Technology and Pegatron will be in charge of bringing in the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S models.

If these rumors prove true, Apple fans better prepare for a big reveal in September this year.
