Good news for Nexus 6 users who are subscribed to AT&T. The Android 5.1 update is reportedly now available meaning that folks who had previous issues with the Android 5.0 Lollipop can expect some of the previous bugs addressed.
Unofficial reports revealed that the Android 5.1 Lollipop is now currently being rolled out incrementally. Hence, Nexus 6 owners may want to occasionally check their devices by pressing the update button and see if the Android 5.1 Lollipop is indeed available for downloading.
Aside from remedying the issues that Android 5.0 brought about, Android 5.1 will also bring a slew of new features and notable improvements for Google's flagship Nexus 6.
Among the new features include a new security feature called 'Device Protection', HD voice calls and bringing back the LED light notifications. The Silent Mode function will reportedly be brought back which should provide a big sigh of relief for folks who want to mute their phones during meetings or occasions.
If and when the update does become available, AT&T will become the fourth U.S. carrier to provide the latest Android OS to Nexus 6 owners. Previous companies who had rolled out the Android 5.1 for the Nexus 6 include Sprint (March 11) and T-Mobile (March 20). The Verizon Nexus 6 already comes with Android 5.1 out of the box.
The update is rolled out in phases and some users have reportedly already gotten their Android 5.1 update.
As far as performance goes, some folks who have already upgraded to the Android 5.1 have reportedly seen their phones running a whole lot smoother although battery life improvements could be a setback.
Aside from the battery life issue, everything else seems to be fine. So have all the bugs been addressed? Probably but it would be best to keep an eye out since new bugs could surface in lieu of the old ones like previous builds.
