Android One devices are reportedly set to receive the new Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update by month's end, which would beat some of the popular and high-end Nexus smartphones.

According to Android Pit, three Android One devices in Indonesia will get the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS this week – Evercoos One X, Mito Impact and Nexian Journey. This is confirmed by Android's Indonesian website, with images posted on Android Police

Some of the noticeable updates and changes brought about by Android 5.1 Lollipop OS in the device are:

  • Silent mode added after missing on Android 5.0
  • General improvements in system stability
  • Improved RAM management
  • Fixes for sudden app closures
  • Improved battery management
  • Excessive consumption of network devices when used Wi-Fi fixed
  • Issues with wireless connections fixed
  • Problems with Okay Google function solved
  • Notifications problems solved
  • Some sound problems experience by certain devices fixed
  • Other improvements and changes
  • Changes in the Material Design color palette (after users complaints, possibly for a higher version though)

Reports also say that the 5.1 version has a scheduled roll out this month before its full release in June or July. The update is currently exclusive in Indonesia solely for the entry-level smartphones. There is no word yet as to when the Nexus devices will receive the update.

Android 5.1 Lollipop is set to be a major system update like what was seen in the Jelly Bean update that had three major system upgrades. The higher number of system updates signify the problematic launch of the OS.

Google has been rolling out patch updates for the Lollipop OS as it has been plagued with bugs and issues since its debut. The tech giant released the Android 5.0.1 in December in an attempt to fix these problems. The next patch update, Android 5.0.2, was seen in Nexus 7 tablets alone and not in other Android-based devices.
