An updated Android 5.1.1 Lollipop factory image is now available for the Nexus 7 (2013). The update was first spotted on Google Developers and is now ready for use. When applied, the software version of the device will change from LMY47V to LMY48G.
There is no way of knowing what the updated version of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, the latest in an array of versions, will bring. Google hasn't released a changelog yet. But according to GSM Arena, the update most likely packs fixes for the bugs the previous iterations of the software took along with them.
But after Android Police did some digging, it was discovered that the factory images only serve to recharge the Nexus 7's trademarked drivers. And it looks like Google, now hard at work for Android M, isn't ready to release an OTA (over the air) for it yet.
But for those interested in flashing the newer Android 5.1.1 Lollipop factory image (which is only meant for developers to use because it had to be applied manually) but are not sure how to, head over to Android Central, which prepared a step by step guide on how to successfully execute the task.
Earlier in June, the Nexus 7 was among the first devices (the rest being Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and Nexus 10) Google bumped up to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, which brought with it bug fixes as well as stability improvements and enhanced security protection for the handset.
The update comes a month after Google rolled out Android 5.1 Lollipop to its handset and tablet family, and the Nexus Player was the first on the list. With the update for a better Android 5.1.1 Lollipop already spotted, it won't be long before the search giant dispatches it to the public and releases details on what it has in store.
