T-Mobile has finally released Android 5.0.1 Lollipop to owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Des Smith, the carrier's senior product manager, recently announced via Twitter that the update will roll out this week.
The good news is that some users are reporting that the sweet new update has already reached their handsets. If this is the case, then other users can expect a notification prompting the download at anytime. If not, owners caan check the settings of the phone manually to see if Lollipop is ready for download.
The Lollipop update is at 1085.68 MB so it is best to download the update over Wi-Fi. It is also a must to clear up some space for the download and make sure that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is fully charged so that Android 5.0.1 Lollipop installs successfully on the handset.
The Galaxy Note 4's jump to Android Lollipop will give it the all-new Material Design, which will give the device a new and bold look. However, most of it will be overlapped by TouchWiz. More than a revamped design, the update focuses on improving the battery life and general performance of the handset.
It will also enjoy the new Smart Lock security feature, which pairs it with a wearable or a car, as well as the ability to hide certain content of the device from view. There is also a new notification tray as well as the new Interruptions feature.
Android Lollipop is also touted to prolong the battery life by up to 90 minutes and it improves the quality of the audio, the camera, and the graphics. Users can also easily toggle the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and location on and off.
T-Mobile is the last of the major carriers in the United States to release Android Lollipop to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Verizon, Sprint and AT&T already let users of the handset jump to the new operating system.
