Amir Khan vs Floyd Mayweather fight news 2015: A done deal?

Will Amir Khan indeed be Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s next (and possibly last) opponent this coming September.

Rumors about this match has been going on for quite some time now and with this latest update from the British boxer, the fight could very well be close to happening.

Amir Khan relayed through the Mirror that he had spoken with Floyd Mayweather Sr. and as usual, the father of Floyd Mayweather Jr. went on to say that he would defeat Amir Khan easily.

For his part, Khan simply replied 'alright, if that's the case, then let's get a fight made'.

While the reply seemed to look harmless, Floyd Sr. apparently took it different. According to Khan, the elder Mayweather went crazy and did a lot of swearing which Khan says he has on video. Khan has yet to post the said video though he claims that he would soon.

Khan looms as the only likely and worthy opponent for Mayweather this September and Khan believes that the fight is close to happening.

Apparently both fighters are managed by supremo Al Haymon which could make fight negotiations progress smoother.

This is actually the second time that both fighters are in negotiations. In 2014, Khan was being considered as Mayweather's opponent but everything bogged down when a conflict came up with the supposed fight date (September 13) since it would not give Khan enough time to prepare.

Curiously, it would be the same month this year though thanks to a change in this year's Muslim Festival schedule, Khan believes that he would have ample time to prepare for the fight.

Khan is coming off a unanimous decision win over Chris Algieri while Mayweather also won via unanimous decision over Manny Pacquiao.

While he claims it would be his last match before retirement, there is a chance that Mayweather could still consider another match in 2016 against Manny Pacquiao.

Mayweather has constantly denied it but seeing how their previous fight racked in record-setting revenues, the door to a potential Mayweather-Pacquiao II match is still open.
