"American Horror Story" has just finished "Freak Show" and the series is already getting into the details of the next season. What can fans expect? That season 5 will be something totally new.

FX Networks CEO John Landgraf couldn't keep his excitement for "American Horror Story" season 5 during the TCA Winter Press Tour.

When asked about the new season, he told TVLine, "I know what it is, but I can't [say]. I have to let Ryan [Murphy] do his thing on that. But it's very different."

"AHS" undeniably undergoes big changes every season, but what makes season 5 different?

"I think there's going to be an unusually large reinvention in between Book 4 and Book 5 relative to, say, between Book 3 [Coven] and 4 [Freak Show]," he explained.

He also shared that he loves the show because it is "radically reinvented in terms of tone, setting, period, characters, cast." Does this mean that the show will finally move forward to the present time in the new season?

"That's my hope, yeah," Langraf shortly answered.

But apart from the plot and theme change for the new season, there might just be a change in the cast list, too. There have been talks about Jessica Lange leaving the show after season 4. Lange even hinted at it during an interview back in 2013.

"I'm going to do the next season [Season 4] of this and hopefully a play and then maybe one or two movies and then I think -- I feel like maybe then it's time to start something brand new in life," she told Huffington Post

When Landgraf was asked about Lange's return, he only said, "I know the setting, I know something about the characters and something about the tone and the time period, but I don't actually know the cast yet."

Further, show creator Ryan Murphy's tweet to the actress didn't disprove the talks at all. Murphy tweeted, "Thank you Jessica... for everything. Always.

If that tweet means what everyone thinks it means, then the show will definitely change in a huge way. Lange has been a series regular since season 1 and is one of the important people who launched the show to success.
