Abortion: Jesus Died For That Baby in Your Womb

The issue of abortion is a controversy that has sparked intense fights between those who are in favour of it and those who aren't.

Women who are in favour of abortion simply say that it's their choice to abort their unborn child, believing that the baby is not yet a "he" or a "she" but an "it." Sadly, however, whether they like it or not, life begins at conception, and thus what abortions do is actually murder a helpless person.

Those who are against abortion fight for the baby's right to live and against the murder of innocent children for whatever cause, be it on a whim or in response to a dire need. Even more, Christians who fight against abortion fight for God's created being that is being formed in a woman's womb.

God Made That Baby

While the unspiritual person does not and cannot recognise that God was working on the child long before birth, the Bible says that God's hand is involved even before the baby grows into a fully developed being.

Psalm 139:13-16 says, "For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them."

By this we know that the baby isn't just an accident. Children are formed by the Lord, and all their days are recorded in His book. But there's more to it than that.

Jesus Died For Unborn Children, Too

The Bible tells us that Christ died for all men. He died for the men who become fathers. He died for the women who become mothers. He died for the women who chose to abort their unwanted child. And yes, He died for the child who was aborted at his mother's demand.

Women have to realise that whether they like the child in their wombs or not, God has already loved that unborn human and has sent His one and only Son to die for his sins. Nothing changes that fact – Christ died for all, including the baby someone might be thinking of aborting right now.

I urge you then, fellow believers in Christ, that if we truly love God, we must choose to honour the life that He gives. Even if that child might be born with a handicap, even if it will cost much to have another child, we must choose to honour God by upholding life.

Jesus died for that baby to be saved and live in Him someday. Better not take that joy away from Christ and your child.
