Sony Xperia Z4 release date: Device launches in Japan

Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra Sony

The Sony Xperia Z4 has finally been released in Japan and folks who have long planned on getting one can do so via NTT Docomo. The retail price for the Xperia Z4 is reportedly around $745.

By namesake, the Xperia Z4 will only be available in Japan. However, the same device is expected to be made available globally though under a different name – Sony Xperia Z3+.

The reason behind the Z3+ name is because the said device hardly brings any difference from its predecessor, the Sony Xperia Z3. It remains to be seen when the Xperia Z3+ would hit the market although that could happen in the coming months. Word has it as well that the device may be offered at about $600.

For those who are unaware, the Z4/Z3+ carries features that include an octa-core Snapdragon processor and will boast of a 5.2-inch 1080p display. The Z4/Z3+ will be thinner and will offer 3GB of storage space which is expandable up to 32GB through microSD card slot. It will have a 20.7 MP main camera, 5MP front-facing camera and a 2930 mAh battery. It will come with Android Lollipop out of the box.

Another device that could be coming out soon is the Xperia Z5. The Xperia Z5 will feature a 5-inch 4K display and will reportedly be powered by a 2Ghz octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm processor, 4GB of RAM and offer 128GB of internal memory.

The Z5 will also boast of a 30MP main camera and 10MP front-facing shooter, a 4,500 mAh battery (reportedly with fast charging capability). Among the other features that consumers may want to look out for as far as the Sony Xperia Z5 is concerned include a 4K ultra HD display, fingerprint sensors, retina scanner and gravity sensors.

There is no official word on the actual release date as well as the suggested retail price though judging by the specs, it should cost more than the Sony Xperia Z4/Z3+.
