The Sony Xperia Z smartphone is expected to be released in the U.S. on T-Mobile exclusively this summer. Although an official release date has not been announced, it is likely to be in shops around mid-July as T-Mobile spokesperson recently said the phone will be arriving in "coming weeks."

Sony's sleek waterproof flagship phone was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year. The smartphone will come with a 5 inch full 1080p HD display, which has been developed by the Bravia television team. The phone is waterproof for up to 3 feet for 30 minutes and the screen is scratch and shatter-proof.

The Xperia Z smartphone comes with a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 2.2 megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with 16GB internal memory that is expandable with a microSD card. The phone will run on quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor, 2 GB ram, and the latest Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2.

While the release of the smartphone is hotly anticipated, the tablet version of the Xperia Z has just as many fans excited.

The Xperia Z tablet comes with a 10.1 inch display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution and 224 ppi and powered with a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor. It is available with 2 GB of ram and 16/32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 64GB with a microSD. The tablet packs an 8.1 megapixel rear camera with 1080p video and 2.2 megapixel front-facing camera.

The Sony is $499 for 16GB storage and $599 for 32GB.

The Xperia Z tablet and Nexus 10 both run on the latest Android operating system – 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

Samsung's Google Nexus 10 tablet is powered by a 1.7GHz Exynos dual-core processor and also has a 10.1 inch display. The screen is slightly better than the Xperia Z, with a 2560 x 160 resolution and 299 ppi. It has 2 GB of RAM and 16//32GB internal storage. This tablet cannot be expanded with a microSD card. The rear camera is 5 megapixel and front-facing camera is 1.9 megapixels.

The Nexus 10 16GB is available on Google's website for $399. The 32GB is $499.
