Emma (Jennifer Morrison) is finally free from the darkness that coursed inside her when the ABC series "Once Upon a Time" returns for the second half of its fifth season in March.

In an interview with Mashable, Morrison talked about how her character fared after the heartbreaking midseason finale. In the episode, Killian (Colin O'Donoghue) perished while trying to be a hero, never knowing that he would die in vain. He thought he was purging the town of all the Dark Ones he summoned from hell, even Emma's alter ego. Killian sacrificed himself so that everyone on Storybrooke would be safe. He did not know that he was playing right in Rumpel's (Robert Carlyle) hands. Rumpel wanted to be the only Dark One left in all Storybrooke; such was why he tricked Emma into using the fake dagger.

After learning of Rumpel's betrayal, Emma used his own weakness to force him to agree into accompanying her to the Underworld. She threatened him that Belle (Emilie de Ravin) would learn about his treachery. Rumpel has no choice but to acquiesce to Emma's demands if he does not want Belle to leave him. In the promo released for the midseason premiere, he, Emma and the other characters of Storybrooke travel to Hell to search for Killian. There, they will find that those who are already dead turn up to be quite alive.

The clip shows Cruella de Vil (Victoria Smurfit), Peter Pan (Robbie Kay), and Regina's (Lana Parrilla) parents (Barbara Hershey and Tony Perez) included in the resurrected ones. When Regina sees her mother in the Underworld, she is very surprised that the latter has been there all along. She is then cautioned to be very careful, as there are forces there beyond her understanding. The haunted souls are set to help them find Killian and send him back to the living.

If there is one good thing about the midseason premiere, it is the fact that Emma appears to be back to her "savior mode." Morrison said in the interview that her character was back to savior magic.

"Her savior magic is intact. There is a mention that in the initial arrival in the underworld, anyone who's dealing with magic is shaken a little bit, but Emma sinks into hers pretty quick. So she's back into true savior Emma form in terms of magic pretty quickly," the actress said.

"Once Upon a Time" will return on March 6 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
