There's a lot of uncertainty surrounding when the MacBook Air 2016 might officially be launched, but recent indicators are suggesting that the laptop will most likely make its debut next year.

Recent rumors had the laptop pegged for an October or even September 2015 release date, according to the Australian Network News. As the days go by, however, those predictions are now less likely to come to fruition, especially since they would seem to create an unnecessary time crunch for Apple to deal with.

Aside from the fact that the MacBook Air 2016 still hasn't been released up to this point, there are also other reasons being pointed to that do seem to suggest that the laptop is more likely to come out next year.

One of those reasons is the rumored processor of the new laptop.

The MacBook Air 2016 will reportedly feature the new Skylake processors from Intel. The processors are well equipped to provide the new laptop with enhancements in several areas, but the one area in which it will not help is in securing it an earlier release date.

Intel's Skylake processors are not scheduled to go into production until the last quarter of this year, and that is the similar timeline that has been suggested as the possible release window for the MacBook Air 2016. Unless Apple decides to go in another direction with their choice of processor, that would suggest that the MacBook Air 2016 can only be realistically launched by next year.

Aside from the processor, the MacBook Air 2016 is also expected to have some other new features in the form of a new operating system, the latest El Capitan offering, and also the Nvidia GeForce GTX 950, according to Venture Capital Post.

There will also reportedly be two versions of the new laptop, one at 13 inches and another that's slightly bigger at 15 inches.
