A baby may very well save the marriage of Francis (Kevin Spacey) and Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) in the fourth season of the political thriller series "House of Cards."

According to Movie News Guide, the Francis and Claire will be adopting a baby not only to save their marriage, but to quell the rumors that America is nurturing its first bisexual president. Last season finale, Claire decided to leave Frank right at the time when they were experiencing tension in their home and career. Claire has been elected as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, while Frank was in tenterhooks due to his competition with the Russian president. With the increasing awareness that her husband may indeed be having an identity crisis, Claire decided to walk away.

In an interview with Huffington Post, showrunner Beau Willimon explained Claire's mindset when she left her husband. He said that she wanted to have some time to reflect about herself and the situation. Willimon refuted the idea that Claire does not love Frank anymore and that her leaving may be what was best for both of them.

He said, "I think [Claire] is very much in love with her husband when we start this series, and she may still be in love with him when we get to the final episode of Season 3. But this union is not making her the person she wants to be. And maybe this man is no longer the man that she needs in order to fully be her complete realized self. That's where we leave it."

Meanwhile, Ecumenical News reports that there will be a plot to assassinate the U.S. President in season 4, if Netflix will stay faithful to the U.K. show it is based upon. In the original series, Francis Underwood's counterpart, Francis Urquhart, gets assassinated in order to "save his reputation."

"House of Cards" season 4 is rumored to air March 2016.
