The latest casting news for "Game of Thrones" hints at a return of one great house. It could also mean trouble for the youngest lady of House Stark.
The "Game of Thrones" fanatics and diligent observers at Watchers on the Wall reported the casting of several new characters for the medieval fantasy's eighth and final season.
With important casts appearing and dying every season, it is no wonder that GoT has a whole bunch of new faces coming in the next installment. Among them is a curious character in Irish actress Danielle Galligan. Her artist profile confirms she is appearing in the series' eighth season as a character named Sarra.
No further information about the character was given, but those who have been reading "A Song of Fire and Ice" were quick to note that the books only ever mentioned one Sarra, and that is Sarra Frey -- one of Walder Frey's countless granddaughters.
Fans of the TV adaptation know that Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) basically wiped out all the male members of the House of Frey, in revenge of the "Red Wedding" episode back in season 3, where Walder Frey (David Bradley) massacred a bunch of people, including her mother Catelyn (Michelle Fairley) and brother Robb (Richard Madden).
Could this new Sarra character mean another revenge, this time for the Freys?
Another casting addition is actress Emer McDaid, whose profile shows she has just wrapped filming for "Game of Thrones." This Instagram post from Galligan is further proof that they have been working together in Belfast, Ireland.
It is, however, yet unknown what role she played.
Other possible additions, all from Independent Agency, are Thomas Finnegan, Conor Maguire, Emer McDaid, Eileen McCloskey, and Katie Tumelty. According to the website, they have all joined a major TV series. Since HBO does not particularly like announcing its new cast, it is very possible that the "major TV series" mentioned above is "Game of Thrones."
Meantime in Moneyglass, Northern Ireland, fans would be happy to know that filming at the Winterfell set has finally began.
There also have been a lot of improvements at the Titanic Studios, where a number of Westerosi scenes are usually filmed.
Despite these notable developments, all the post-production will not allow "Game of Thrones" season 8 to arrive to the small screens until 2019.
