The life of the Kirkman family will forever change on the next episode of the political television series "Designated Survivor." Episode 10 titled, "Line of Fire," is season 2's 10th episode and midseason finale.

The next episode will be the season's Christmas episode, and once again, President Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) will be put to the test. In the upcoming episode, Kirkman will try to save the lives of religious extremists who are stuck in a middle of a wildfire and are refusing to evacuate. Kirkman will deploy two of his most trusted staff, Emily Rhodes (Italia Ricci) and Aaron Shore (Adan Canto), to assess and defuse the situation.

First Lady Alex Kirkman (Natascha Mcelhone) will also give her testimony to the FBI on the next episode. Episode 10 will also shed some light on the true identity of Damian Rennett (Ben Lawson) and his motives. In the previous episode, titled "Three-Letter Day," Hannah Wells (Maggie Q) suspected that Rennett is now who he says he is.

In the promo video of episode 10, Wells confronts Rennett for betraying his trust. Rennett's real goal is not yet well-established in the series, given that he has been one of Wells' most trusted accomplices and also her lover. TV Fanatic speculates that Rennett and FBI Director John Forstell (Reed Diamon) are working together. Forstell has been pinning down the First Lady regarding the case involving her mother. It was also revealed in the most recent episode that the FBI Director is planning to run for Senate in 2018.

The sneak peek video for episode 10 ended with Kirkman falling on his knees and screaming out loud. No further details were given by the showrunners and ABC if the next episode will finally reveal the reason behind Patrick Lloyd's (Terry Serpico) final scheme.

"Designated Survivor" season 2 episode 10 will air on Dec. 13 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
