Benedict Cumberbatch, Jake Gyllenhaal to star in new thriller film

Film maker Luca Guadagnino is still busy adding finishing touches in his current movie, but it looks like he is already moving on to his next project. The director of "Suspiria" remake is planning to make a thriller film and he's already eyeing actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Jake Gyllenhaal for the lead roles. What will the movie be about?

Cumberbatch and Gyllenhaal are reported to star in Luca Guadagnino's next film "Rio." "Rio" is a thriller movie about a financial journalist (Jake Gyllenhaal) who goes to Rio de Janeiro to see a wealthy business man (Benedict Cumberbatch) and help him plan his fake death. The script will be written by "Lock's" Steven Knight.

Even though the two actors have not signed any contracts yet, the film will likely start production next year.

Studiocanal will be producing "Rio" alongside Cumberbatch and his Sunny March production with Adam Ackland. The movie is also set to debut in the Cannes Film festival.

The two actors will also star in other movies this year. Gyllenhaal just recently finished his Broadway play "Sundays in the Park." His next project involves a role in Bong Joon-Ho's "Okja" that will premiere on Netflix on June 28. In autumn, the actor will also star in another project called "Stronger," which will be directed by David Gordon Green. The movie features the story of the Boston Marathon hero and survivor, Jeff Bauman. It is based on a true story first told in the New York Times bestseller book of the same name.

Cumberbatch, on the other hand, is just as busy as well. The actor is scheduled to play as Thomas Edison in Weinstein Company's "The Current War." he is also set to lend his voice to the character Grinch in Illumination Entertainment's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Aside from these projects, Cumberbatch's fans are also waiting for his appearance in Marvel Studio's "Thor: Ragnarok" as Doctor Strange and "Avengers: Infinity War."
