UFC rumors 2016: Chris Weidman was glad he lost to Luke Rockhold

Chris Weidman is likely to get a rematch with Luke Rockhold, something the latter believes is feasible, given the fact that Weidman is the former champion.

Rockhold goes on to say that Weidman is practically begging Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White for a do-over, according to Fox Sports, but the recently minted champion has no qualms about facing Weidman once again.

It seems that both Rockhold and Weidman feel they could have done better when they last fought. Although Rockhold came out the better of the two, a rematch could give them the opportunity to come up with a better performance.

For Weidman, the loss was something that happened for a reason and he seems to be happy it did. He admits having lost something, the lack of excitement as he quipped via MMAFighting.com.

Weidman takes the loss as a sign that he needs to grow and develop more. It proves he wasn't perfect and that means having to fix things. And hopefully, such will fire him up when he returns, hopefully (but likely) against the very same man who beat him the last time out.

With that said, could the fire inside Weidman be rekindled? Right now, he seems to think so; hopefully, he can work back and see the things he was missing — particularly the moves which he says held him back.

Weidman is one of the options lined up for Rockhold. The others are Vitor Belfort in what is seen as more of a revenge match and Yoel Romero who would have been an interesting choice.

Out of that list, however, it seems Rockhold is leaning more on that rematch with Weidman, with the former champion also making it clear that this is the fight he wants and feels he deserves.

"That's all I'm focused on," Weidman says in a separate article from MMA Fighting.com. "Right now, I'm training already. I'm just so hungry and determined and the only face I see is Luke Rockhold's."
