There is not much concrete information about "Transformers 5" but these morsels of info are enough to decipher what fans could be in for. For starters, fans will reportedly feel that the movie is not just a retelling of the massive mechanoids at war, and it will also have a touch of other popular franchises.

In an interview with Deadline last month, screenwriter Akiva Goldsman said, "There are good rooms around town, including the Monsters Room at Universal, the Star Wars room, and of course, at Marvel. We're trying to beg, borrow and steal from the best of them, and gathered a group of folks interested in developing and broadening this franchise."

Goldsman was enlisted to lead a team of writers tasked to branch out the "Transformers" cinematic universe.

As for the characters that will be in "Transformers 5," Ecumenical News reports that Optimus Prime's second-in-command, Ultra Magnus, will show up in the film. His inclusion is exciting but not that surprising. In the comics, his connection to villains Megatron and Galvatron basically necessitates his participation.

Apart from Ultra Magnus, the upcoming filrm is also expected have the Quintessons, who are known as an ancient race that created the Transformers. The mystery of their past, which is deemed dark and obscure, will play out nicely in the film. There were previous rumors that the movie will take fans to their territory.

Actor Mark Wahlberg is reported to reprise his role as Cade Yeager in the film. There are also rumors that Michael Bay might be back to direct it, although there are reports that "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" helmer Jonathan Liebesman will take the reins. There are also speculations of Megan Fox and Shia Labeouf appearing in the film.

"Transformers 5" is expected to be released in 2017.
