One of the largest game companies by revenue, Nintendo, has recently signed a sponsorship deal with a games tournament group called Apex, and as a result, the company will be endorsing the Smash Bros. competitions. Apex 2015 will be comprised of a games tournament that will last for three days which will commence on Jan. 30.

Thanks to a Twitter feed that was posted through Apex's official account, it was confirmed that the Nintendo would be partnering up with Apex 2015. The details of the tweet are as follows:  "We are pleased to announce that #Apex2015 is partnering with @NintendoAmerica to bring an incredible #SmashBros event."

At the start of the tournament, the competition will include all four games present in the Nintendo series, namely:

  • Super Smash Bros for the N64
  • Super Smash Bros Melee for the GameCube
  • Super Smash Bros Brawl for the Wii
  • The recently released Super Smash Bros for Wii U

In addition to the Super Smash Bros. Tournament, the Apex 2015 will also be hosting a flurry of other games such as "Ultra Street Fighter 4," "Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3," and "Guilty Gear Xrd."

Since Nintendo will be sponsoring the tournament, it will automatically represent a turnaround for Nintendo's earlier policy, where the corporation came under an immense amount of heat in July 2013 for attempting to prohibit the Smash Bros. Melee from being played at the Evo 2013 tournament.

Registration for participating already closed on Jan. 13, but spectators are welcome.  The site's FAQ says, "You can only purchase a spectator pass at the door, the weekend of the event. We always have plenty of passes available. You can purchase your passes on Friday through Sunday, check the schedule for check-in hours."

Apex 2015 will conclude on Sunday, Feb. 1, with the last bout being a Melee Finals, according to the details listed on the schedule.

Additional details about the tournament, "Super Smash Bros.," the remainder of the games listed, and Nintendo's partnership can be viewed on the Apex 2015 official website.
