Sony Xperia Z4v release date: August 13 'not accurate'

 Verizon Wireless

The Sony Xperia Z4v, the US variant of the Sony flagship, won't be out in August 13, as what Sony previously listed on its website. The said date was removed from where it was first spotted and now, the tech firm itself isn't sure when the Verizon-exclusive handset will be made available.

After news about the release date peppered the web, Burson-Marsteller, Sony's public relations agency of record in North America, emailed 9to5google that to clarify that the "the copy displayed on the microsite is not accurate" and added that the company still has no formal launch date set.

Before the mishap, the Sony Xperia Z4v was scheduled to release this summer. 9to5google adds that the flagship will come in a black and white hues and that popular brands will be selling accessories for the device when it hits the US shores.

Verizon provided no further details to narrow that timeframe down. At the moment, there's still no specific date to circle and no explanations were provided to shed light on why Sony listed an August 13 release date in the first place.

Sony Xperia Z4v comes in a 5.2-inch touchscreen. Phone Arena adds it is the first ever Sony handset to boast such Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) display quality. This is what tells it apart from the Xperia Z3+ and the Z4. On the inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and a hefty 3GB RAM.

There will be 32GB of expandable space on the device, perfect to store photos taken with its bulky 20-megapixel Exmor RS rear-facing shooter (complete with LED flash) and its Exmor R 5-megapixel snapper on the front. Needless to say, this Sony offering will be water and dust resistant.

No word on the pricing as well but details on that aspect should drop when the actual release date for Sony Xperia Z4v is near.
