Fans will see a new set of clones when BBC's science fiction series "Orphan Black" returns for its fourth season next year.

Movie Pilot revealed that more genetic duplicates of Sarah (Tatiana Maslany) would be sprouting in the upcoming installment. This was after BBC President Sarah Barnett admitted in a press conference that the show's writers are considering "going in a different direction" by introducing new characters that will "blow the fans away."

"One of the many defining things of the show is that rhythm in the storytelling of Russian nesting dolls, so you think it's painted itself into a corner, and then something else pops out which takes it in this crazy new different direction," said Barnett.

Although last season ended with cliffhangers, co-creator John Fawcett said that fans should expect a kind of "reset" for season 4. He described the last finale as a "big victory for the clones." According to him, this time, they want to explore another side of the story.

"There are some cliffhangers and we've left some things up in the air, but what this allows us to do in season 4 is it allows us to breathe and reset ourselves a little bit," shared Fawcett.

Meanwhile, Maslany recently revealed to Deadline how excited she is to give life to the different clones set to be introduced in the upcoming installment. When asked which character she feels closest to in the series, the actress admitted that the housewife Alison best "resonates" with her.

"She can be lame and stern, but for some reasons there's something about her that feels resonant. There's a high emotionalism to her that feels comfortable to me, limitless and feeling," Maslany stated.

As of this time, BBC has not yet released a specific release date for the "Orphan Black" season 4, only that it would be sometime next year.
