In a stunning twist that will certainly be most welcome for most folks who have long been curious on what makes OnePlus devices so special, getting hold of one now will be just like purchasing any other smartphone brand in the market.

OnePlus devices could previously be availed of solely by invite. But starting Dec. 5, the Chinese company has lifted that constraint at least for the OnePlus 2. This means that anyone can now get their hands on one if they wish and all they have to do is visit OnePlus site and get one with just a few steps.

While this development should be truly something to cheer about for the ones who have been eager to see if the OnePlus 2 is indeed worthy to be called a "flagship killer," it seems that other devices will still carry some sort of restrictions.

That includes the OnePlus X, which will be offered without any required invite only on Dec. 5 and 7. But after that, folks can also get the chance to own one with planned weekly open sales.

The OnePlus devices gained a lot of attention because of its high-end specs which come at a low price. While that was seemingly already a tempting thing to ponder on, the only thing holding people back was that dreaded invite-only option to get one and on a limited capacity.

For those who are unaware, the OnePlus 2 features a 5.5-inch display that is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. It also includes 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, a 13-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

It also has the modern fingerprint sensor and comes with its own skin for Android, the company's very own OxygenOS.

The OnePlus 2 is priced at around $329 in the U.S. market. For those interested in the OnePlus X, the device costs a bit lower at $249.
