At last month's Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016, it was confirmed that a sequel to "Injustice: Gods Among Us" is in development. It is expected to arrive in March 2017. Fans are speculating that more DC heroes and villains will also arrive in the upcoming game, as well as another guest fighter, similar to the first game.

Game director Ed Boon shared a photo on his Twitter page an "Injustice 2" shirt that showcases significant items belonging to famous DC heroes and villains. The shirt contains Batman's cowl, Green Lantern's power battery, Superman's insignia, Wonder Woman's shield, Harley Quinn's hammer, The Flash's boot, Doctor Fate's helmet and Captain Cold's gun. There is also an unknown item that nobody has recognized yet, Yibada reported.

The shirt gave fans an idea of the playable characters in the upcoming game. Fans would love to see Doctor Fate do his spellcasting, telekinesis or pyrokinesis during gameplay.

Prior to this, Boon conducted a poll on whom fans want to see in "Injustice 2." Only three choices were given, Captain Cold, Swamp Thing and Blue Beetle. Blue Beetle got the highest number of votes, at 39 percent, Swamp Thing got 35 percent and Captain Cold received 26 percent.

Ecumenical News stated that Supergirl, Grodd, and Atrocitus will be the new playable characters when the game arrives, which gives players additional options to choose from. The list also includes Superman, Batman and The Flash from the previous game.

Boon also mentioned in the past, when interviewed by Game Informer, that they will include a non-DC Comics character again.

He said, "I always think there's a novelty to it and there's a certain amount of people who think that when they see a guest character that it took the slot of a DC character that they wanted to have," the game creator explained. "But you know, Scorpion in Injustice was the most downloaded of all the characters. There was a coolness and a novelty factor to seeing the mixing of the things. Alien and Predator in Mortal Kombat X were the most downloaded of those, so I would be surprised if we didn't do any of that [in Injustice 2]."

"Injustice 2" is expected to be available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms by 2017.
