'Halo 5: Guardians': Spartan Locke-centered trailer released

The iconic UNSC elite manhunter Spartan Locke is featured in the latest trailer released by Microsoft for "Halo 5: Guardians."

Based on the new trailer, Spartan Locke carries out the Covenant as he looks for the Master Chief. He also dons the latest Spartan Locke HNTER-class armor, which is only given to players who pre-order the exclusive Xbox game from GameStop.

The armor is reportedly playable in the multiplayer mode of the title. Microsoft describes the armor as the latest war fighting technology from Watershed Division, which makes it a highly deadly but very fashionable suit.

There is also a HUNTER-Class Helmet, which is a prototype implementation that helps improve the game's threat as well as its situational awareness.

Aside from the new armor, the trailer also showcases the latest weapons and skills that players can use in the upcoming game.

Last year at the San Diego Comic-Con, Spartan Locke's voice actor Mike Colter offered a few details about his character's relationship with the Master Chief. Colter said that he "can't confirm whether he's a friend or foe of Master Chief."

He also added, "You won't know what the purpose of finding Master Chief is [right away]. Or what will happen if we do find him, what condition he will be in, and where he's at mentally. But I'm sure that'll be a plot twist in Halo 5."

The official plot for the upcoming installment of the "Halo" series reads:

Peace is shattered when colony worlds are unexpectedly attacked. And when humanity's greatest hero goes missing, Spartan Locke is tasked with hunting the Master Chief and solving a mystery that threatens the entire galaxy."

Spartan Locke is first introduced in the supporting live action series titled "Halo: Nightfall."

"Halo 5: Guardians" will be released exclusively on Xbox One on Oct. 27.
