The wait for the release of the GoPro Hero 5 might be extended to as late as October 2016, recent rumors claimed.

According to a report from BidNess ETC, the next-generation action camera will come out alongside the brand's first-ever GoPro Drone, the Karma, in the second half of the year.

The GoPro Karma was first confirmed in December 2015, and GoPro founder Nick Woodman gave more details about the upcoming quadcopter during CES 2016 held early January.

According to Woodman, the Karma is being developed with all past and future GoPro products in mind.

"We make everything backwards compatible, our goal is that your older GoPro will work with anything new we make, and vice versa," the company head told Engadget.

But releasing the GoPro Hero 5 at the same time as the GoPro Karma means that the action camera will not come out on its initial early 2016 release date. Other rumors claim that the delay will help developers improve its specs to help it stand out among all the other action cameras in the market today.

Early reports stated that the GoPro Hero 5 will be equipped with the Ambarella H1 System on Chip (SoC) that will let the device record moments using 4k filming at 60 frames per second. This means that it will have a higher speed compared to the GoPro Hero 4 Black, which uses the same resolution.

The upcoming action camera will also have improved 2.7k performance and higher frame rates for 1080p video capturing, which can work well for epic slow motion video.

Other speculations about the product also mentioned that the GoPro Hero 5 is waterproof for up to 60 meters deep.

GoPro remains mum about the actual release date and official specs of the product.
