'Dragon Ball Super' episode 30: Piccolo trains Gohan, Beerus reaches out to an old foe

Dragon Ball Super Toei Animation

When "Dragon Ball Super" returns, Goku and Vegeta will be hard at work in assembling their team for the martial arts tournament that pits one universe against another. From the looks of it, they got their first two recruits already.

In the promo for episode 30 of the anime, Gohan and Piccolo are seen in the middle of an intense punch-up, with explosions here and there. Media outlets believe that Piccolo is training Gohan for the tournament.

Gohan has now gotten much stronger than Piccolo, however, which will make it a bit odd seeing him in this "Dragon Ball Super" episode receiving tutelage from someone less powerful than him, according to Design and Trend.

But the fact that Gohan will be under Piccolo's training hints that the Gohan may not be as potent, at least compared to his master, as he was shown to be. Whatever the case is, some fans are just delighted seeing Gohan once again in training.

There are also reports that Goten and Trunks will secure a spot in Goku and Vegeta's team in the inter-universal fighting tournament. This remains to be seen as the only glimpse of them in the "Dragon Ball Super" promo does not give any clue.

Meanwhile, the teaser for episode 30 also shows Beerus closely watching the sand clock as he helps himself with hundreds of bowls of delicious ramen. His meal appears to have been interrupted by the arrival of a fearsome foe in the form of Monaka.

As per the summary for the episode, however, the mysterious enemy is actually the one visited by the god of destruction, and while they were once the greatest of rivals, Beerus comes to him for help presumably to bulk up his team.

"Dragon Ball Super" airs every Sunday on Fuji TV. The next episodes are expected to see the two warring teams take shape as the series leads to the real tournament event itself.
