David Beckham unveils Jesus and cherubs tattoo

The 35-year-old’s inking was done in LA a few months ago by tattoo artist to the celebs, Mark Mahoney.

It took 12 hours in total and was completed over two sittings.

In a video also posted on Facebook, David explained that the tattoo represented himself and the support he hopes to receive from his three sons, 11-year-old Brooklyn, 8-year-old Romeo and six-year-old Cruz, in the future.

He explained: “It’s Jesus being carried by three cherubs and obviously the cherubs are my boys and so my thought of it is that at some point my boys are going to need to look after me and that’s what they’re doing in the picture. It means a lot.”

David already has many tattoos, mostly with spiritual undertones. A guardian angel runs down his right arm, while his back is adorned by an angel in the shape of a cross. ‘Pray for me’ is inked onto his right wrist.

He said his tattoos were a way of “expressing the way I’m feeling”.

“Most of my tattoos are memories or things that mean a lot to me,” he said.
