BlackBerry fans who decided to trade their trusted BBs may go back to their original mobile phone buddy, as the Canada-based mobile brand announced that they will finally release their new and improved phone, the BlackBerry Classic, on Dec. 17. 

The company began to offer the unlocked version of their new device on the BlackBerry online store beginning Nov. 14 for $449. 

Since the BlackBerry Classic can only support GSM carriers, those who will buy it can only subscribe to AT&T and T-Mobile carriers in the U.S., and it will not work on other U.S. network providers like Sprint, Verizon, as well as US Cellular. 

By releasing the BlackBerry Classic, also known as the BlackBerry Q20, the company is hoping that it could carve its way once again in the mobile phone market that is now greatly dominated by other smartphone brands like Apple and Samsung. 

The latest BlackBerry device comes with a 3.46-inch display screen with 720 x 720 pixels resolution with a pixel density of 291 pixel per inch. The BlackBerry Classic also runs using a dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 SoC and has a superb 2 GB of RAM support configuration. It also has the BlackBerry 10.3 mobile operating system, which will soon be upgraded to the latest BlackBerry OS version 10.3.1 once it is released. 

The new BlackBerry device also features an 8-megapixel rear-end primary camera that has autofocus and LED flash functions, as well as a 2-megapixel front-facing secondary camera for video calling. 

BlackBerry Classic is also given the same physical QWERTY keypad that is present in the older BlackBerry phones like the BB Bold and BB Curve. This sets the product apart from the competition, which often comes in touchscreen displays without physical keypads. 

The delivery of the pre-ordered BlackBerry Classic units is scheduled sometime in mid-December.
