LG G2, LG G3, and LG G4 to get Android Marshmallow 6.0 update?

Just last week, search engine giant Google unveiled the new successor to the Lollipop version operating system (OS), called the Android Marshmallow. The new operating system was initially unveiled during this year's Google I/O conference event, and is expected to arrive this fall.

Since the Android Marshmallow is headed its way out very soon, here are the devices that are expected to receive the update.

Last week, it was revealed that the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, and Nexus 9 devices are expected to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. In addition, the upcoming LG Nexus and Huawei Nexus will be among the first handsets to come with the Android Marshmallow pre-installed.

According to reports, LG's G2, G3, and G4 smartphones will also receive the new update. The South Korean giant LG Electronics reportedly plans to completely skip the update to the Android Lollipop 5.1.1. Instead, these LG smartphones will jump straight to the Marshmallow.

According to the Gospel Herald, LG made a similar move in the past when it skipped the update to the Android 4.4.4 KitKat version. During the Google I/O event, the search engine company had also released the third and final developer preview, according to earlier reports.

The Android Marshmallow is expected to support fingerprint reader and USB Type-C port connection. In addition, the new OS will also support Google's mobile wallet, including Android Pay.

Android Product Manager Jamal Eason said in regards to the features, "Along with the new platform features like fingerprint support and Doze power saving mode, Android Marshmallow features a new permissions model that streamlines the app install and update process."

"To give users this flexibility and to make sure your app behaves as expected when an Android Marshmallow user disables a specific permission, it's important that you update your app to target API 23, and test the app thoroughly with Android Marshmallow users," Eason added.
