Xiaomi Mi Note 2 release date, specs rumors: Two cameras, fingerprint scanner

Chinese phont manufacturer Xiaomi is allegedly working on a new smartphone called Mi Note 2, which, for the first time, has been spotted in rumor mills. Alleged press renders from tech tipster @KJuma recently made the rounds showing off what is deemed to be one classy flagship.

The photos do not show a design breakthrough as the device looks quite like its predecessor. It apparently has little to no bezels, making it look sleek. The insides, though, tell another story as this is where the Chinese company is reportedly doing most of the revamping.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is said to be getting a fingerprint scanner to be embedded on the home button of the device. As per Techno Buffalo, what makes the smartphone unique is that it will reportedly feature two cameras on its back – a hefty 23-megapixel shooter and another, much smaller 12-megapixel unit.

Previous rumors claim that the phablet's Quad HD display will measure as much as 5.7 inches, which will be backed by a 3500 mAh battery. Under the hood, users are looking at Qualcomm's yet to be released highly-advanced chipset, the Snapdragon 820 processor. This is expected to work nicely with the device's rumored 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of storage space.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop that's juxtaposed with Xiaomi's newly-introduced MIUI 7. It will not take long to charge its big battery unit as rumors say that it will be integrated with fast-charging technology.

Xiaomi has yet to make the powerful phablet official and it appears it will be that way for a while if the company really is going to use the next-generation Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm. This is because there were earlier reports that devices that will be equipped with the until will not be released until next year.

Furthermore, details regarding the release date and the pricing of the handset are still unavailable. There are still a lot of puzzle pieces missing but if the rumors are correct, then the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 seems like one stellar offering.
