Xiaomi Mi Edge specs news: Looking to challenge Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Xiaomi continues to come up with its own versions of alternative models that aim to give leading brands a run for their money. After unveiling their share of iPhone adversaries, the company now leaks some images which are apparently meant to give the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge some competition.

From the leaked image alone, it is clear that the benchmark here is the curved display. The Xiaomi Mi 4 features a 5.2-inch curved display which curves all the way to the back. The display offers QHD resolution with a pixel density of about 565 pixels per inch (ppi).

Now, aside from the curved display bit, it remains to be seen what specs Xiaomi has to ably support the said handset.

Per rumors, the Mi 4 Edge could probably get the support from a Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor backed by either 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM. An Adreno 418 graphics processing unit (GPU) will also provide support to the said handset, which could also come out with a fingerprint sensor.

Other rumored features could include a 16-megapixel main camera; but the best part about the rumored device could very well boil down to the price.

As everyone knows, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge costs a bundle; but as far as the Xiaomi Mi Edge is concerned, the device will reportedly retail for about $350.

If true, the Mi Edge could be unveiled this coming October together with another Xiaomi variant in the Mi 5. If so, Xiaomi will be joining other companies set to unveil their own line of new devices such as the iPhone 6S/ iPhone 6S Plus by Apple and the Google Nexus 5 2015.

The bad news is that like its other devices, there is no word if Xiaomi would make the alleged Mi Edge available outside China. If so, it could carry another issue for interested buyers — availability.
