One of the hottest topics in the gaming industry today is virtual reality gaming, and with tech giants like Oculus and Microsoft having their own stakes on VR headset development, the industry is set to enter a whole new level of gaming experience for players.

In this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, where tech giants in the gaming industry showcase their upcoming developments, Oculus has announced that the company would be partnering with tech bigwig Microsoft. For gaming fans, this means that they might see their favorite Xbox titles ported to the Oculus Rift.

The partnership was confirmed by Microsoft's head of the Xbox team.

In a press conference ahead of the annual E3 event, Phil Spencer told the crowd, "It was really important that we are able to bring the greatness of Xbox, Xbox Live and all of the games that people have created to PCs and tablets everywhere. I'm really proud to announce that that same streaming capability will be available for Oculus Rift."

The upcoming feature for the Xbox One will allow gamers to stream their games to the Oculus Rift headset via Windows 10. Playing Xbox One games via the upcoming platform was already laid out by Microsoft when it unveiled the Windows 10 operating system early this year. This option is Microsoft's answer to Sony's PS Now and PS4 Remote Play services. PS Now lets gamers use compatible devices like Blu-ray players and smart TVs to play PS3 games via cloud, while the Remote Play feature allows PS Vita and Xperia phones to stream PS4 games in the mobile devices. A similar feature called Nvidia Grid service is also available for Nvidia Shield tablets and mini consoles.

Microsoft upped the ante by providing an option to Xbox One gamers. Now, aside from streaming their Xbox One games list to a desktop running Windows 10, players can also opt to experience virtual reality gaming via the Oculus Rift.
