One of the relatively new – and most popular – features of the Xbox One is backwards compatibility. With the program, players can play classic games on the current-gen Microsoft console without having to wait for ported or re-released copies of the titles.
The latest updates bring three new classics to the growing backwards-compatible games list.
According to a tweet from Xbox One U.K., three new classics will join pre-Xbox One games already playable on the current-gen console. The three new titles are the original "Assassin's Creed," "Dark Void," and "GRID 2."
These means that players who own copies of the games will be able to play them on the Xbox One, particularly if they have upgraded from a previous Xbox 360 and already have the games in their libraries.
Aside from the three new games, Microsoft reportedly already confirmed that more classic titles will be added to the mix such as the original "Alan Wake" game and "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night." However, there is no definite release date for the titles yet, since Microsft has changed its schedule for adding games to the backwards compatibility list.
Previously, the list grew by at least two games each month. However, Microsoft overhauled this rollout schedule. Now, games get added to the Xbox One backwards-compatible games list as soon as they are made available by the developers.
While more classic titles make it to the list, some of the top games on fans' wish lists are yet to be added, notes GameSpot. Fans are still waiting for the list to be expanded with titles from the "Call of Duty" series like "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," as well as other big-name franchises like "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" and "Red Dead Redemption."
