WWE rumors 2015: Does Kevin Owens deserve a heavyweight title push?

Kevin Owens lost to Dean Ambrose at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) TLC (Tables, Ladders, and Chairs), costing him the WWE Intercontinental title. It is likely that both will end up facing again at the WWE Royal Rumble, although it is shaping up to be a three-cornered fight with Dolph Ziggler inserted into the fray as of late.

It seems almost likely that Ambrose will retain his belt at the WWE pay-per-view (PPV) which will be held on Jan. 24 2016, although Owens could be very busy that night. This, of course, doesn't limit him to the Intercontinental title but maybe even the WWE heavyweight scene.

At least this is what Rob Wolkenbrod of Daily DDT tries to point out as far as giving Owens a possible boost in the WWE heavyweight sweepstakes. If he is one of the 30 WWE stars in the rumble, he could make a statement by staying in the ring the longest.

Why not winning? Well, right now, it seems that Owens is not exactly in that class where he would be a favorite to win it all, although it isn't impossible.

With a lot of WWE stars currently injured, Owens could probably step up as one of the wrestlers who can help add more boost to the ratings game. He has proven to be a good heel character, possibly better than Sheamus who is trying to fill in for a sidelined Seth Rollins.

Sheamus is likely to face Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble but right now, he isn't exactly the perfect heel star if you compare him to Rollins or even Owens. So there could be an argument there which could justify why Owens deserves a boost.

Timing is essential of course with the Royal Rumble technically a sign of things to come at Wrestlemania 32. There is still WWE Fastlane but as many may have seen last year, it was more of fine-tuning the storylines than adding new twists.
