'Under the Dome' season 4: EP talks about what new season would have looked like

The mysterious dome finally came down in the series finale of "Under the Dome," which aired last Sept. 10. According to Zap2it, the unexpected cancellation of the series led to an unsatisfying end for the show and the cliffhanger in the end may no longer be revealed forever.

While executive producer Neal Baer seems be pleased with how things ended, he still had visions on what "Under the Dome" season 4 would have looked like.

"They would have gone someplace else, and the dome would come down over another place," he joked in an interview with TV Line. He then added, "But then it would be like, 'Then what?' Would we do the same thing again? It would have been a real challenge. I went on this incredibly interesting adventure that was a parable for sustainability in our world, and now, it's up to us to live the real life and do something about it."

During a chat with Yahoo!, he reiterated this, saying that the cast and crew already did their job in depicting the dome as an "environmental parable," one that will help people live as individuals and thrive as a group, all to protect the environment.

Baer believes that as far as the questions on the environment and its deterioration go, all three seasons managed to tell the whole story. He said that it is now up to the viewers to decide what happens after, making season 4 more and more of wishful thinking rather than reality.

In this same Yahoo! interview, however, he hinted that the series may share the same fate as "The Mindy Project" or "Longmire," both of which found new homes online after failing to get a renewal from their respective television networks. The executive producer is open to "Under the Dome" season 4 but relies on what fate has in store for the show, saying, "One never knows! Stranger things have happened."
