Reports have now revealed that there are now some developments in the long-awaited movie adaptation of the highly popular action-adventure shooter video game, "Uncharted."

The long-proposed project has been stuck in production hell for the past few years, but it seems like the new director helming the project is now determined to get things moving and is planning to start shooting scenes for the movie in 2017.

The "Uncharted" movie project itself was initially proposed back in 2009. The movie had several directors that were hired to take on the project, which included "The Fighter" director David O. Russel, "Limitless" director Neil Burger, and even Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg at one time.

All of the previous directors had abandoned their post, but the newly appointed director of the project — Shawn Levy —apparently doesn't want to give up on "Uncharted" like his predecessors.

During a recent interview with the "Stranger Things" director attended by Collider, it was revealed that Levy and his team are already planning to start shooting scenes for the "Uncharted" movie next year.

"I am unabashedly thrilled to be making that next year. I'm definitely not filming before March. The goal is to film in the late spring, early summer," shared Levy in the interview.

Levy further mentioned that he had been very interested in the project for the past few years and now that he has the chance to do it, he plans to see it through to the end. The director revealed that the game itself was a very cinematic game and that his planned "Uncharted" film was going to be an "anti-Indiana Jones" movie.

He explained that Nathan Drake's character, and consequently the movie, was going to be "grittier, more naturalistic, real-world, and contemporary." When asked about the actor they wanted to play the character, the director revealed that they have yet to decide and will just be going with whoever "feels right."
