'True Detective' season 3 premiere date, cast: Matthew McConaughey interested in playing Rust Cohle again

 HBO

A lot of fans are still waiting on whether or not the American anthology crime drama "True Detective" will have a third season.

After all, when the first season for this show first aired back in 2014, it had such a star-studded cast coupled with compelling storylines. Regardless, fans are holding on since recently, in an interview on "The Rich Eisen Show," one of the original members of this show's cast, Matthew McConaughey, said hat he already wants to go back for another season, as if giving it another chance.

This Academy Award winner said that he has already reached out to Nic Pizzolato, the "True Detective" showrunner. He told him that he is ready to return to the show, should it get a third season. He even went so far as to say that he already talk to Pizzolato about it, and that as long as he gets to play Rustin Cohle, his character from the first season, he will return. He also admitted that his willingness to go back to the show is due to the fact that he really had fun filming this series.

"I miss Rust Cohle, man. I miss watching him on Sunday nights. I miss watching 'True Detective' on Sunday nights. I was a happy man when I made that for six months because I was on my own island. Luckily my wife put up with me. She said I was actually nice when I went home," he said in his interview.

As for now, there is still no set date for the third season of "True Detective," and fans are still worried that it will end in a mixed reception it received back in its second season. However, according to Variety, it seems that Nic Pizzolato is still in contract with HBO until 2018, so it is still expected that this series will have at least one more season.
