The newest "Transformers" movie will follow a storyline devoid of humans, if a recent spoiler is to be believed. According to Crossmap, the fact that the franchise has yet to announce a lead actor for "Transformers 5" could mean that mortals might get sidelined in favor of the Autobots and Decepticons.
The website posits that the film creators may have taken the complaints of several fans that the movies have been putting too much attention on the "Earth/Human" aspect rather than the robots. They have reportedly been forgetting the original animated versions, where the Transformers were the stars of the show. For his part, lead writer Akiva Goldsman has revealed that they have been studying and immersing themselves to all sorts of sources to create "a mythological timeline" worthy of the series.
"We will look at the toys, the TV shows, the merchandise, everything that has been generated by Hasbro, from popular to forgotten iterations... It has been designed with a lot of visual help, toys, robots, sketches and writers and artists. After that super saturation, the writers will figure out not one, but numerous films that will extend the universe," he told Deadline.
Some believe that this is an indication from the writer that the franchise is gearing toward an all-robot lineup for "Transformer 5." At the end of "Age of Extinction," Optimus Prime was seen leaving Earth to find his makers. Many think that the sequel would take place entirely in Cybertron, where the leader of the Autobots will find answers to his questions. While Optimus is gone, Bumble Bee and the rest of the bots will reportedly be in charge of keeping the planet safe from the Decepticons.
Aside from Michael Bay being confirmed as the director of the new film, little is known about "Transformers 5." It has no release date yet, but it is expected to hit the cinemas in early 2017.
