'Thor 3: Ragnarok' plot spoilers; Thor's next three confirmed appearances

Chris Hemsworth as Thor Disney/Marvel

"Thor: Ragnarok" is set to be the third and most likely last solo Thor film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to a report with the Collider, actor Chris Hemsworth confirmed that his contract would end after his appearance in "Thor: Ragnarok" and both Part I and II of "Avengers: Infinity Wars."

Robert Downey Jr.'s contract to play Iron Man ended with the first "Avengers" film but this was extended to include him in several more films including "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Captain America: Civil War." It is still uncertain if Chris Hemsworth would be extending his contract as well once his role in "Infinity Wars" is done.

It may not really matter for the most part because as of the time of writing, Marvel has only one film coming out after "Avengers: Infinity Wars Part II" and that would be "Inhumans." Thor may not have any part in the film and Chris Hemsworth may not need to extend his contract any further.

One thing that is for certain is his return in "Thor: Ragnarok." After all, it bears the name of his character front and center. A new report from Venture Capital Post cites that the film's plot may lead to the end of Asgard, home of the celestial beings, including Thor himself.

According to the report, the title reflects the end of the world as told in Norse Mythology, where Loki breaks free from his prison and helps Surtur, the Fire Giant, in destroying the world of the Nordic gods. If the film followed this story even by the slightest bit it would suggest big things are in store for the third "Thor" film.

This plot could spell the end of certain characters such as Odin (Anthony Hopkins), Heimdall (Idris Elba), and Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

"Thor: Ragnarok" is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 3, 2017, pushed from its original July 28, 2017 release date.
