'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 rumors, episode 4 spoilers: Nina Dobrev talking with showrunners about return; Will Tyler die?

Will Nina Dobrev return as Elena in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8? Annette Brown/The CW

Elena Gilbert's (Nina Dobrev) return to Mystic Falls is one of the most anticipated events in the final season of "The Vampire Diaries," and fans are already expecting her to return as soon as episode 4.

According to a report by News Everyday, the show has already showed the connection between Elena and Damon (Ian Somerhalder). In the last episode, Damon struggled to wrestle down the darkness within himself with Elena helping him find the light.

However, while networks are in talks to get Dobrev back on board, there is still no official statement from The CW or from showrunner Julie Plec.

Meanwhile, talks are intensifying that the fourth episode will see the demise of one character. Rumors are rife in the mill that Tyler (Michael Trevino) will not survive Damon's attack, which is bound to break the hearts of the loyal fans of the werewolf.

"Tasked with finding a mysterious artifact, Damon's latest mission takes him to Texas where a violent run-in with Peter Maxwell leads to a surprising revelation. Meanwhile, Stefan and Alaric uncover the origins of the mysterious force they're up against and Matt returns to the fray after his past and present collide in an unexpected way," read the synopsis for the episode, which has the ominous title of "An Eternity of Misery."

Meanwhile, as Dobrev is yet to confirm her return to "The Vampire Diaries", she has confirmed her appearance on the comedy show "Workaholics" via her personal Twitter account.

"No coffee? No problem. Ill help wake you up. Or stop your heart. It's a 50/50 chance @AdamDevine #WORKAHOLICS #NeverTooEarlyForAGoodScare," tweeted Dobrev.

The show has yet to reveal details about Dobrev's character, but it iss bound to be different from her role in "The Vampire Diaries" since "Workaholics" is a workplace comedy.

"The Vampire Diaries" airs every Friday at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
