Julian (Todd Lasance) will make sure Stefan's (Paul Wesley) friends will have a tough time saving him in the upcoming episode of The CW series "The Vampire Diaries."

In "Hell is Other People," the promo reveals that the younger Salvatore brother is still in the hands of the sadistic vampire, while Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is already free. During the midseason finale, both of them got trapped inside the Phoenix Stone. When the series returns for the second half of season 7, viewers will see Damon being resurrected by Bonnie (Kat Graham) using the mysterious gem.

In the clip, the witch is telling Damon that he has been dead for the past three months. When he asked where his brother is, the scene cut to Stefan lying on a slab while Julian is holding a lighter. The latter appears to be contemplating whether to torch Stefan now or later. It is unsure though, whether it is Stefan who gets swallowed by the sudden flare-up. Caroline (Candice Accola) is also seen frantic with worry, telling Damon that once Julian puts Stefan's body on fire, they have no hope of getting him back.

The teaser also shows a bewildering scene wherein Stefan is standing in front of Damon, while the latter is telling him he is not supposed to be where he is. It looks like a different soul is now inhabiting Stefan's body. The perplexity continues for Damon, as he becomes demented with Caroline, shouting that none of what is happening is real. He then puts a stake into her heart. Matt (Zach Roerig) witnesses the entire thing, and while he tries to rescue Caroline, the picket has already pierced her heart.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 was recently moved from its usual Thursday schedule to Friday. It will return on Jan. 29, 2016 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
