So far, everything is going well for Caroline (Candice King) and her pregnancy with the witch twins. In the upcoming episode of the hit The CW series "The Vampire Diaries," however, things will change dramatically once the blonde vampire learns of a secret she is not supposed to know.

In "Things We Lost in the Fire," CarterMatt reports that Caroline and Alaric's (Matt Davis) friends and families will gather in Mystic Falls for the baby shower. Even Tyler (guest star Michael Trevino) will manage to attend just to give Caroline a boost on how well she is handling the change in her life. It is supposed to be a happy occasion, until the vampire makes a distressing discovery. Apparently, Alaric is planning something for the babies once they are born and Caroline does not like it one bit. Does his plan have anything to do with Jo's (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) resurrection?

Meanwhile, Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) hell continues, even after his friends successfully got him out of the Phoenix Stone. It has already been revealed that the stone has the power to change anyone who gets trapped inside it. The upcoming episode will show exactly how the mystic rock affects Damon. When he tried to kill his friends the moment he was released from its power, viewers had an inkling on how the vampire would fare. Damon is traumatized and he needs someone who can guide him through the ordeal. He needs a person who has the same harrowing experience as him — Stefan (Paul Wesley).

According to the synopsis, the younger Salvatore will come to the aid of his brother. Although he looks like he is doing much better than Damon, Stefan is also struggling with the effects of the stone. In an interview with TV Line, executive producer Caroline Dries shared how Stefan would be Damon's salvation.

"What we get to see in the next episode is Damon really really mess things up. Stefan, who had his own journey that we didn't see — and we're not going to see the way we saw with Damon — has been through that. Stefan has survived it and has learned some lessons from it, but can Stefan warn Damon in time of what it means to actually get out of there?" she said.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 airs Fridays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
