Vincent Griffith (Yusuf Gatewood) is going to be one huge pain in the neck for the Mikaelsons when the hit The CW series "The Originals" returns for season 3B.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the new regent of the witches' coven is going to be a strong force to contend with. His sound moral judgment will be the backbone in keeping his city safe. After getting promoted to his position, the witch will reportedly realize how important his role will be in keeping peace among his people and in showing a strong front against the vampires who want to usurp their powers. His principles may mean putting him at odds with the Original family, especially Klaus (Joseph Morgan).
Executive producer Michael Narducci said in his interview that the second half of the current season would see if Vincent would be a friend or a foe for the Mikaelson siblings. The prophecy about the family still stands, and a righteous witch regent may prove to be too much of a burden for them. The executive producer even teased that Vincent could be part of the prophecy.
"That may put him at terrible odds with the Mikaelsons, whose beliefs for morality are centered on family above all. So sure, the Mikaelsons are nice as long as you're not messing with their family, and if you do mess with their family, they'll wipe out an entire city," Narducci said.
Meanwhile, season 3B will also see if Rebekah's (Claire Holt) sacrifice will work exactly as she and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) planned. Last midseason finale, she asked her older brother to stake her in the hopes of eliminating the "family" part of the prophecy. Elijah used a regular dagger, however, so instead of dying, Rebekah was just sleeping. Narducci said she would be "tucked away" safe from the Trinity. Viewers would not be seeing her soon, though, as her brothers would decide she would be better off removed from the chaos.
"If she came back, then we would have to be wary of our family again, so they may have motive to allow her to be daggered until this prophecy comes to a head," he said,
"The Originals" season 3 will return on Friday, Jan. 29, at 9 p.m. EST on The CW Network.
