Klaus (Joseph Morgan) will find out just how obsessed Aurora (guest star Rebecca Breeds) is with him in the upcoming episodes of the hit The CW series "The Originals."
In his interview with TV Line, executive producer Michael Narducci dished out on what viewers could expect from the hybrid and his ex-lover, plus the escalating fight among the Mikaelsons and their progenies. He particularly talked about Aurora and how her unstable frame of mind would affect Klaus and his new love interest, Cami (Leah Pipes). When Aurora arrived at the scene in episode 6, Klaus was not expecting how much vindictiveness she would bring. The pair were once deeply in love, but desperate times called Klaus and his family to leave their homes. That time, Aurora elected to stay behind, and it was only in episode 6 that it was revealed her reasons for choosing to do so.
According to her, it was Elijah (Daniel Gillies) who asked her to let Klaus go, as being with her meant his brother would always be in danger. While Klaus was angry at Elijah's interfering, he nevertheless understood where the latter was coming from. What he could not fathom was how Aurora transformed from a lovely vampire to someone consumed by hate. Aurora immediately set out to ruin Klaus' world, conspiring with the other progenies to take him and his siblings down. What was more, she targeted Cami out of jealousy, kidnapped and tortured her to make Klaus pay for leaving her hundreds of years ago. She was even the person behind his sister's predicament, as Aurora sent the other Original at the bottom of the ocean in a sealed box.
According to Narducci, Aurora is the archetypal ex-girlfriend who has illusions that her lover is still enamored with her. The vampire, apparently, thinks that behind all Klaus' expression of disgust lies a heart completely devoted to her and their relationship. This madness is what pushes her to do things she normally would not do, which makes her a very dangerous foe.
"She's wound her way into every fabric of [Klaus'] being, and she compares all other women to herself. She has an arrogant interpretation of Klaus' affection, which I find hysterical. Rebecca Breeds does such a great job being sinister but also amusing," the executive producer said.
He also explained why Klaus feels the way he feels for Cami. According to him, Cami is the one person who understands Klaus the most. While the hybrid mostly shows his tough and devious side, he is also someone who thirsts for love. After being abused by his parents, Narducci said that Klaus has "a lot of psychological damage." Cami, who is a psychologist, gives him peace and treats him with empathy. This perhaps is why Klaus believes he is in love with her.
After its winter break, "The Originals" will air Fridays at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
