With Disney and Pixar's animated hit The Incredibles' sequel finally getting greenlighted and given a target release date, writer and director Brad Bird is hard at work at polishing the details on the return of the superhero family.

In an interview with Bird, the director, who also helmed the first movie hinted that they will be going to a different direction but still bank on the strengths of the first movie.

"Hopefully it's the same characters and feel, but going in a new direction. I mean, that's the trick with a sequel. It's repeating yourself, without repeating yourself," he said

Even before the release was officially confirmed for June 21, 2019, there have been plenty of speculations about the plot of the new movie.

There have been rumors that the main villain will be Jack Jack after it was revealed in the first film how powerful he youngest Incredible was.

Now, speculations are being floated that the film will feature a time jump which will show Violet and Dash as adults and Jack Jack as a rebellious teen.

According to a report by Vine Report, Violet may be already married and a mom, while Dash is also suspected of turning into a villain mainly because he was repressed from using his powers when he was younger.

Bird sheds some light into the trajectory of the sequel in an IGN interview.

"Powers themselves are not that interesting, it's the people that are interesting and how they react to having those powers," he said.

He however, refused to divulge further information on the new movie, saying that it would be like opening presents before Christmas.

He assured that work is under way for the movie and said that the team is very excited about its development.
