It's just days away before "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" hits theaters, but a handful of people were lucky enough to catch the movie earlier than the rest.
Movie Fone wrote a very entertaining review of "Mockingjay - Part 1" and based on its review, there are tons of things to look forward to in the movie. But of course, there are also parts that many might not really like.
Just as a brief background, the first half of the final chapter of "Hunger Games" is about the war between the government and the resistance. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) leads the resistance as their symbolic Mockingjay, while Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) is now working for the oppressive government.
So without further ado, here goes:
The Good
First off, Lawrence is reportedly great in the movie and she was really able to capture the essence of Katniss Everdeen in the book. The reviewer found her a delight to watch and viewers would be moved to take her side.
Natalie Dormer's performance in the movie as Cressida is said to have been very awesome, too. Cressida is the opposite of scheming, social-climbing Margaery Tyrell in "Game of Thrones," and Dormer managed to switch to her freedom fighter role very well.
The Bad
As "Mockingjay Part 1" doesn't dwell on retelling the past and jumps right into the events where the previous film left off, it is advised that viewers watch "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" first before seeing the latest installment of the franchise.
Also, given that this is a war movie, it's very violent, which is why it was given a PG-13 rating. It shows a very different side to what viewers saw in the first two movies — there are no pageantries anymore, just a look at war between oppressors and the oppressed. As everyone knows, war is never pleasant and this could be bad for the younger ones in the family.
The Best
Seeing Philip Seymour Hoffman on the big screen one more time is perhaps one of the best things viewers can take home from the movie. It wasn't all CGI, Hoffman was able to film most of the movie.
The cliffhanger, according to the review, will definitely keep fans at the edge of their seats and longing for the second part of the movie. That's not the best part, but waiting just a year for the finale probably is.
"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" will be shown in theaters on Nov. 21.
