'The Good Wife' season 6 preview: Alicia and Peter's debate, Cory in for jail term

The debate is on as "The Good Wife" returns to television screens for its midseason premiere. Go-getting Alicia (Julianna Margulies) is extremely dogged to knock Peter (Chris Noth) down and she will do so in the most forceful way possible. TV Ruckus states in an episode preview of "Hail Mary" that Mrs. Florrick's now political rival will be bowled over after being unable to handle Alicia's hard line attack.

In a preview trailer of the episode, Alicia said in full conviction, "I'm simply a lawyer by training and by temperament. And what that means is I have the character to put the demands of this job before my own self interests. And the discipline to ensure that winning cases does not become more important than seeing justice done. Based on your past Mr. Peter I don't think you can say the same."

In the middle of the debate preparation, Finn Polmar (Matthew Goode) will be seen helping out Alicia. TV Ruckus revealed that he will be substituting for her opponent Frank Prady. It may finally be the beginning of something more than friendship. Will circumstances allow them to couple up? Well, the two have been 'touching hands' and sharing 'meaningful glances.' The two must be clamoring for more than that. The return of the series may finally lead to romance.

But those are not the only explosive bits that await viewers of "The Good Wife." Cary Agos (Matt Czuchry) has riveted himself in a huge problem. He may be sent behind bars and the rest of the season may likely have him stay there. As he opts to sign up for prison consultant Bill Kroft (Domenick Lombardozzi) to prepare him for the imprisonment, Cory will see Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) and Kalinda Sharma (Archie Panjabi) help him to dodge the bullet.

Season 6 of "The Good Wife" will be back with "Hail Mary" on Jan. 4 on CBS.
